Description

I visited India in 2012 and had the chance to see the Ganges at dawn. The atmosphere was quiet and deeply moving, watching locals gather with such reverence for the river left a real impression on me. Monet painted Impression: Sunrise in 1872, a work that gave rise to Impressionism. It’s my favourite painting. I drew on my love for that piece as inspiration, trying to capture the delicate effect of the moon and sun rising together over the Ganges.
